Giving to God

Stewardship 2011

Sermon 3 from the Stewardship 2011 series by Dr. Steven D. Bruns.

The only thing we can give to God is ourselves. We are created in his image and it is from him that we have anything at all. God has no physical needs. Our perfect offering is ourselves, as a living sacrifice in unison with Christ’s offering for us. Once we have committed to this, all other offerings to him flow from it.

But I Thought This Was About Money!

Stewardship 2011

Sermon 2 from the Stewardship 2011 series by Dr. Steven D. Bruns.

We are to be in service to others just as Jesus was. He is the King of the Universe, and yet here he was taking the form of a slave and washing dirty, grimy feet. He consistently thought of others before himself, and continually gave of himself even unto death on a cross for others. The commitment we are to have if he truly is our Lord is to live in the same manner. This means stewardship entails money, but a whole lot more.

You Want Me to do What?

Stewardship 2011

Sermon 1 from the Stewardship 2011 series by Dr. Steven D. Bruns.

We need to trust God to meet our needs and not horde. We can’t take it with us anyway and God will watch over our loved ones better than we can, so why are we hording? Are we God? Can we ensure our security? The stock crash has proved that is not true. Can we depend upon the Government? Our current situation has proved that is not true. We can depend upon God alone.
