It Don’t Mean a Thing…

Cross and Flame

Luke 10:25-37
June 16, 2013
Pastor Kandace Brooks

Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan and explains what it means to be a neighbor, and who our neighbors really area. Since Jesus has defined who our neighbors are, we can’t say they are only those people who live in our general proximity. Our neighbors are all people, everywhere!

When is the last time you invited someone to church, or to a church event? Why not make it your goal this summer to invite as many as you can, to grow our family of faith, and to celebrate the joy of being a good neighbor!

Hello Neighbors!

Kandace Brooks

Dear Friends,

We had a great week in Vacation Bible School, with over 40 children on our campus sharing the love of God and neighbor. It is so gratifying to me as your pastor to see the number of folks who came out to support our efforts. We simply could not do this without faithful and energetic volunteers who invest in the life of our children. Well done!

During the week we ‘traveled’ to Japan, Zimbabwe, United Kingdom, Australia, and Mexico to learn different customs and to realize that our neighbors stretch across the globe. But, we cannot forget the neighbors that God has placed in our own backyard.

When is the last time you invited someone to church, or to a church event? Why not make it your goal this summer to invite as many as you can, to grow our family of faith, and to celebrate the joy of being a good neighbor!

Finally, a huge “Happy Father’s Day” to the men of the church! Thanks to all of you for the godly men that you are, and for your witness to your children, and to the community. May God continue to bless you day by day.

Blessings,

Kandace

Live-Giving Bread

John 6:25-35; 48-51

Message 9: Live-Giving Bread

Pastor Kandace Brooks

That Christ gathers us together at his table weekly to be fed and nourished by the Holy Spirit is a sacred mystery that we will never fully grasp at a rational level. That God would take the ordinary elements of bread and wine and transform them into something holy is beyond my own comprehension, but then again, isn’t that exactly what God does with each and every one of us?

The Eucharistic Life

Kandace Brooks

Dear Friends,

I have a dear friend in ministry who is struggling with his understanding and administration of the sacrament of Holy Communion. The struggle is not the importance of the sacrament; in fact, I sense that his appreciation is deepening and his pastor’s heart wants desperately to share the fullness of this beautiful act with his people.

Our life is to be Eucharistic, lived in thanksgiving and offered back to God to use for the larger purposes of the Kingdom.

May it be so for each of us and for all of us!

Blessings,

Kandace

You Have to Really Want It

John 5:1-8
Sermon Series: Encounters with Jesus
Message 8: You Have to Really Want It
June 2, 2013
Pastor Kandace Brooks

There are several questions that Jesus asks during his time with the disciples. For me, one of the most profound questions that Jesus asks is this: “Do you want to be made well?”

We would do well to answer (if only in our hearts) the questions that Jesus asks, for they reveal so much about the condition of our hearts. I wonder, don’t you, if Jesus might be asking the question to individuals, communities, nations, and churches.

Do you want to be made well? That’s something to think about.
