In a few days we welcome the official first day of summer. On the same token, most of our children will be at home starting their summer vacations. On moments like this, we usually think that is a time to go out of town, a time to meet family, to have fun, especially during the months of June and July. All these plans and dreams are really good and all of them are very important. We all need leisure time; however, let me share with you a dream that I had just before I woke up. It happened this morning before I began to write this article. I woke up dreaming that I was in a mission team meeting, and when we were finishing it, we were singing a very popular and missional hymn from a Spanish writer, Cesareo Gabarain. Its lyrics in English are, “You are the seed that has to grow, you are the star that has to shine, you are leaven, you are a grain of salt, you are torch that has to light. You are the dawn that is born again, you are the spike that begins to give grains, you are sting and caress at the same time, witness that I will send…” So shortly after breakfast, I shared my dream with Rosa. She asked me when my next mission trip will be and then she boldly told me, “because I want to go!” I responded to her that I don’t know when it will be.
However, after passing a couple of hours, I understood that the mission trip God had sent me on wasn’t out of town, nor with my mission partners. It was meant for today, to be in Mission here in Ormond Beach and the surrounding areas. My partners have been all the pastors and all the people I have met today. The dream was meant to be the whole day in mission, to be Christ’s visible presence at every place I’ve been, on everything I’ve done, and with every person I’ve come across. I’ve been able to share Jesus through the action of the Holy Spirit. The lesson I learned about my dream, I want to share it with you for this summer time. Wherever you go; if you go out of town with your family, or if you are planning to enjoy a beach time in Ormond; don’t forget to share your faith in Jesus. Share it all the time, whether with words or actions, give glory to our Father in heaven (John 15:7-8). We may find something similar in the letter to the Colossians where the writer says,
Colossians 3:17 CEB
